Ragnar Hayn’s work is based on, and inspired by instruments made by 17th and 18th century Italian masters.

Taking models from this epoch as his starting point, he creates both faithful copies, which are accurate in every detail, and modern instruments.

Matteo Goffriller (Venice, 1659 - 1742) was the founder of the Venetian School. Born in Bressanone in Tyrol, not far from Bolzano, he was apprenticed to Matteo Albani.

In 1695 he travelled to Venice, where he worked for Martin Kaiser. He became extremely well-known for his cellos, whose tone can hardly be surpassed.
